Possible 2nd Cover
These are two possible front covers for my magazine second front cover. I really like both covers. I like the first one because her face is stunning - shining in the limelight. Although I prefer the stance of the second and believes this show her off best.

Front Cover 1 - Editing
I am pleased with my first mock up especially considering my photoshop skills this time last year. I believe my magazine shows many magazine conventions. The cover price, masthead, issue number, anchor etc. My only concerns would be not hitting the brief of the 'upmarket audience' as the colours and style may not be reflective. I have utilised Barthes semiotics theory through the red lighting and some red wording to highlight the horror theme on this front cover as this issue is released at the start of autumn season so people will be craving Halloween and cosy movies.

First Photoshoot
Ajuni- my model looked stunning for this shoot. I really like all the photos but all for different reasons. I really like the positioning and the way the dress flares out. The second i love the angle and the was the dress flares out. However for both these photos she looks tired and i feel like we could have gotten better shots. For the last photo i love the way she looks.

Generic Research- Case Study- Sight and Sound
Who Are Sight And Sound?
Sight and Sound is the BFI’s internationally renowned film magazine, championing and appraising the art of cinema and TV from around the world. They have been publishing film comment since 1932 and provide an unrivalled platform for film lovers to connect with the best movie writers in the English language.
Their monthly magazine – the heart of our work, in print since 1932 – is available in print and digital formats. All their subscription packages include free access to nine decades of journalism in our online archive.
Platforms
Sight And Sound offers a range of different platforms for avid fans to interact and buy their product. They have their website connected to The BFI- British Film Institute- who owns them, they then have their actual physical print copy as well as their newer offering of the copy but online to appeal to their younger, technology-smart audience.
They also have their social media platforms which generate a greater audience. They allow a closer knit audience which are kept up to date with exclusive stories and announcements.
Noticeable Parts Of Website
This screenshot from Sight And Sound website (a company which promotes music and film) of whom has a younger age demographic: I believe this would be beneficial link to have at targeting the younger audiences, since readers of this and my own magazine are film enthusiasts and adore something good to watch, old vintage films which they might not have considered or even heard of, and have already been approved would be a good alternative when struggling at choosing something to watch and therefore would encourage them to click the 'read more' link or read that article in the magazine. Consequently having this link within a magazine or to an attached website would be great at targeting the younger '16-25' age generation.
This screenshot is from the homepage of Sight And Sound website. The opening story is this- the promotion of their latest issue, with the main stories advertised as well to intrigue the reader. I definitely wish to do this on my website to promote my own brand and issue. It links all platform together very well.

Front Cover Analysis:
Empire magazine front covers are very diverse and each are very unique. I chose these two to have a closer look at as these are what I believe are achievable as a student. The majority of Empire's magazines front covers depict action movies which take a lot of editing. However, there are not many obvious constants, except from the masthead, date and barcode. The main image is alway positioned so that the features of the copy can be scattered around it. Looking at the front covers, I think it is suggestible that the look and positioning of the copy aren't decide until they have their belief of what their main image will look like.Online Presence:
Here is the opening page of empire, these are the subheadings of all the areas that are accessible. The image from their website shows all the different areas. It shows their horizontal and vertical integration and how successful they are as a company. It highlight how they attract their 18-40, primarily male, employed, educated audience. The vast and varied article as well as this additional features epitomises why they are successful as they know how to attract wider audiences and encourage them to spend more and keep coming back.
For a mobile, this is the opening home page on empireonline.com. It immediately links to film with an iconic scene from mission impossible. The opening stories include a trailer tease, empire exclusive- screening and Q&A event and also promotion of their VIP experiences.
